Kayak psychic sidekick

Just a week ago my walk buddy wondered aloud why kakaks and canoes weren't allowed at Oak Point. We were walking around the pond, and agreed it would be an obvious place to learn to paddle. Within days I got this Plano civic alert:

Beginning Wednesday, June 14, the pond at Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve will be open for kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding from dawn to dusk. The general public is welcome to use their own watercraft (canoe, kayak, stand up paddle board) or rent a kayak on a first come, first served basis. Kayak rentals will be available on Wednesdays only from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $10/kayak.

More information about thihs new opportunity for  enjoying the wildlife preserve can be found here. The pond is not open for swimming. There's nothing resembling a beach. But now the people fishing can watch kayakers and vice versa. According to a parks staff person I met at the pond this morning, there's no plan for installing a boat dock or launch for kayaks.

Kayakers for a video promo.

Group making a kayak promo at the pond this morning.

The intro to kayaking classes all seem to be on Wednesdays. Bummer.

In other Oak Point news, why did the little green snake cross the sidewalk?

How close can you get to a Canada goose before it goes HISS?

This close.
