When snakes wear jewelry

Ringneck snake crossing sidewalk
Last year in May I found a large harmless black rat snake playing dress-up with scarves and tiaras in a toy box, so I wasn't totally surprised to see a snake wearing a necklace crossing the sidewalk at Oak Point this noon. It was little and fast, and not pleased to be interrupted for a photo shoot.

The accessorized reptile turns out to be a harmless ringneck snake, a predator of small salamanders, slugs, and very small snakes. It is prey to slightly larger snakes. So it might as well live life to the max and dress up if it wants.
